Two Thonet style chairs

I had two Thonet style chairs that were about a hundred years old from a client who had inherited six in total but two had been in the attic for years and years and were in need of some restoration. I had to try to match the two chairs to the other four.

One of the chairs that needs some work.
There has been woodworm and the plywood seat needs replacing.
The leg needs replacing. Woodworm love beech wood. Luckily all the woodworm has left a long time ago however I did treat the wood for woodworm. Woodworm don’t like central heating but will thrive in damp garages or sheds.
One of the four that were in good condition. Can I get them to look like this one?
Axminster lathe. I haven’t used this for a while.
Turning beech wood
Shaping up nicely.
I’ve given the new right leg a quick coat of water stain and fitted it. With a syringe and small needle I filled the wormholes with glue to strengthen the chair. Then it was time to French polish the chairs.
The two restored chairs are the left and middle chair. The left chair has a new front right leg.
Completed job. That went well.
